That calm, centre-point within each of us is what we call our Zenter. It’s our internal compass. And it’s either strengthened or weakened by our daily practices – our habits. The 9 happy habits are the practices that work together like spokes in a wheel to strengthen our Zenter. One of these happy habits is the practice of Caring For Feelings.
Caring for Feelings Means
Accepting them ALL as important + okay
How Caring for Feelings Works
From the moment we’re born, we are always feeling something. We are feeling beings, every part of our body feels through our senses – we feel what we see, we feel what we hear, we feel what we smell, taste and touch. To be alive is to feel life.
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched
They must be felt with the heart
- Helen Keller
Feelings aren’t good or bad, they just ARE. Everything has its perfect place in life, including difficult feelings, like sadness or anger. Without these, we wouldn’t know what it is to feel joy or peace.
We can change anything by changing how we feel. But first we have to recognize how we feel and then accept any feeling as okay. Only then can we experience and express our feelings in healthy ways. When kids learn how to Care For Feelings in this way, they allow the feelings to move through them so they can return to their natural state of happiness.
See that feelings are like a train that enters a station and then leaves;
be like the station, not like a passenger

Teaching Kids About Caring For Feelings
We like to keep things simple and teach concepts in ways kids learn best; through stories, creativity, play and hands-on experiences. You can use any of our materials to teach about Caring For Feelings. Like, playing a variety of games with the Feelings Cards, Charts and Handouts. Start by introducing the habit and the 4 Basic Feelings using the I CARE FOR FEELINGS activity.
When little people are overwhelmed by big emotions
it’s our job to share our calm, not join their chaos
